Parking took some planning: spaces can be hard to find unless you arrive early, and nearby lots may charge fixed, progressive, or differential rates. I stayed here on my first Taichung visit after finding the hotel online. The twin room was spacious, the amenities were complete, and the staff were warm and welcoming. Breakfast was tasty and lively. One issue was the air conditioning blowing straight at my head. It made my face uncomfortable and my nose stuffy, so I switched it off, though the room then felt a little stuffy. The hotel is on Jinhua North Road in North District, Taichung City, Taiwan. If you get the chance to visit Taichung, check it out.

CU hotel is a decent option for a few days in Taichung. The food is satisfactory, with a nice range of dishes, and I’d personally go for the salad. Just keep in mind the hotel is split between two buildings. The rooms are unusual but rather small for a comfortable stay, though they work fine for a short visit. The bathroom is functional, if a bit cramped.

On a budget, this is an affordable and decent place to stay. It’s clean, and the staff are good. Just be aware that it’s right beside a temple where the morning prayers are very loud, which can be rough if you’ve stayed out late at the night markets or hoped to sleep in. The children’s reading room is only a lobby area that’s been converted, with a few books.

There were bedbugs in the bedding and pillows. That was the worst experience I’ve had in Taichung, and I’m never coming back.

The five stars are for the hotel’s horror and thriller vibe. It feels like a great setting for a B movie, especially tower #2. Kind of scary, in a five-star way.
