The receptionist was lovely. Our AC wasn't working right, so we slept with the room at 26°C (79° F). Eventually we realized the snowflake icon had to be switched on for it to cool.

It's about a 10-15 minute walk to Taichung train or bus station, and there's a three-storey grocery store nearby with lots of everyday items at low prices. The hotel has a factory-like design, with classical pieces used as decoration. My room was spacious and clean, and the bathroom was large too. Breakfast is limited to three choices: toast in three flavors, with the same salad, fried egg, and sausage each day.

A stylish hotel and hostel in central Taichung, with good rooms, service, and a free breakfast. They also used to rent electric scooters after check-in, though I'm not sure whether that's still available.

P & F Hotel is aimed at budget-minded guests, but it was comfortable and convenient. The entrance can throw you off because it looks like a vintage telephone boutique. Breakfast is free if you order it ahead of time. For lunch and dinner, you'll need to eat outside.
