Anping Live Taste

This was the worst B&B I’ve stayed at in Tainan. Someone on the fourth floor smoked in the bathroom, and the smoke came through the vents to the third floor. I woke up to a smoky bathroom. I told the landlord, but they only said nobody was smoking on the third or fourth floors and didn’t come to check. The smoke upstairs was strong, and the third-floor bathroom was full of it. Soundproofing was poor too. We could clearly hear children playing and crying in the room across the street. After that experience, one star is all I can give. If it were possible, I’d give it less.

The location is incredibly convenient, but the soundproofing really isn’t good. Street traffic, especially passing cars, comes through very clearly. Parking is another major problem if you have a car, since finding a space is practically impossible. The nearest paid lot is absurdly expensive and has no price cap.

The room was clean, and my child’s nasal allergies didn’t flare up at all. The bed had just the right firmness. With both air conditioning and a fan, the room cooled down fast. Check-in and check-out didn’t require talking to staff, which was such a good experience for someone with social anxiety!

The owner was friendly and flexible about our arrival time. He also let us leave our luggage there temporarily, so we could explore before coming back to catch the train. The price was very reasonable. The room had a relaxed feel and the basics were all there, including a kettle, hairdryer, TV, small dining table, shower gel, and shampoo. The bathroom was spacious, though there was no bathtub. There’s also a shared lounge and small refrigerator on the second floor. It’s a bit far from the train station, but Ubike and GoShare are nearby. The place is close to Anping Fort, the Four-Leaf Green Tunnel, and Yuguang Island. Anping Old Street is just downstairs, and a little farther along there’s a bike path for a ride or a walk in the sun and cool breeze.
