Art Station x Residence

Set in a valley, this was a cozy spot where parking a scooter was easy. Several tourist places were within walking distance. The room could use a bit better soundproofing.

The location was very good, and the place was very clean. I’d definitely stay here again on my next visit to Tainan.

The stairs are steep and difficult, so I wouldn’t recommend bringing luggage up them. There’s no elevator either, which could be an issue for anyone with mobility problems. I had a double room. Its toilet was incredibly tiny, the smallest I’ve ever seen, and the sink was so low that using it felt uncomfortable. The bed was also extremely uncomfortable. I have a hard bed at home, but this felt like lying on a pile of springs. It was the worst bed I’ve slept on in a guesthouse.

The location was decent, but for Tainan the price felt a bit high, especially without breakfast. Maybe that’s the price of art. I booked through Agoda, and the photos didn’t match the room, so book only if you’re okay with that. The bathroom was incredibly small, with nowhere for towels or clothes. I left a chair by the door for them. The room also smelled a little musty. The mosquito repellent was really noisy. The owner said it couldn’t be switched off, but since there are fewer small animals in winter, I turned it off. I didn’t see any living creatures in the room. The air conditioning was very cold. The lighting was good but not bright enough to wake me, and I personally found that comfortable. The soundproofing wasn’t great either: other guests came back late that night and made some noise. Overall, it was acceptable.
