W Hostel

At first we were concerned about parking in the old alley, but it turned out to be fine. Our X-trail recreational vehicle drove in without trouble. The hostel is in a converted traditional Chinese house, and I really liked its self-managed style. It felt like home. The stairs are steep and narrow, so take care going up and down. We stayed on the third floor. The room was clean and simple, though stuffy when we first arrived. It became comfortable after the air conditioning had been on for a little while. The windows seal well, so outside noise wasn’t loud, and I found it quite quiet.

This place is down an alley, away from heavy traffic noise. The room was clean, the air conditioning worked well, and the hot water stayed hot. The stay was satisfactory overall. The dedicated parking is the one problem. Its approach lane is extremely narrow and really only suits a vehicle around Yaris size. An SUV would struggle to get through the alley, let alone park. If you’re unsure your vehicle will fit, it’s better to use a nearby parking space than try to squeeze into the B&B lot.

We were comfortable here, and the room was very clean. The bathroom was spotless, with plenty of hot water and strong pressure. The bed firmness was just right for us on our long-distance motorcycle trips, and there are lots of places to eat right outside. Passing cars were still audible, so the windows could have sealed better. Even so, this was our first choice on our island-hopping trip!

The staff were polite, but the photos gave the wrong impression. The room felt old and dim, and it wasn’t cheap.
