Capital Hotel Nanjing

On Nov 19,2025, I was staying at the hotel when my hairdryer stopped working after ten minutes. I went to ask the first-floor staff if they could exchange it. In front of the elevator I ran into a male staff member who was big in build but only 5 feet tall. He was going to get something on that floor and asked me to test the hairdryer. The issue was how mean he was to me the whole time he spoke. When I said hotel service is about customer service and he could at least speak more nicely, he replied, “oh you can RECORD me.” People speak English here, but when you speak Chinese/Mandarin, some staff are super mean to you. I don’t get it.

The location worked well for us, with convenience stores close by and the metro only a short walk away. The dining space is cozy and clean, and breakfast was good. Guests can also sit there from 5-10 PM for free tea and coffee. After checkout, they let us stay and have a few more coffees, though I don't know whether that's standard. We spent our last two nights in Taiwan here and found the staff consistently friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean, with complimentary drinks and snacks replenished the next day. The plugs even fit the type used back home, so I didn't need an adapter. One small drawback: the lobby toilet is cramped. I'd happily stay again.

The location is good, and the service was good too, but the bed in the standard double room was surprisingly short. It's supposed to be 190 cm long. I'm 157 cm, and even with two pillows my heels stuck over the edge. My partner is 170 cm and had the same problem. Housekeeping was another disappointment. After I ate a seaweed rice ball, some seaweed was left on the rim of my glass. I put it in the sink expecting it to be cleaned, but that evening it had been moved to the bar counter with the seaweed still there. If that sort of bed and cleaning suits you, this might be your place.

The location was good, and the breakfast staff were okay, but the breakfast choices leaned mostly Asian and were limited. The hotel cost a lot for what it offered. Our room felt very old and dusty, and the air conditioning was noisy and smelled bad. We had mosquitoes every night. I think they may have been coming through the vents, though I can't be sure. There was no soundproofing either, so noise woke us early. I booked after reading so many positive reviews, but I left very dissatisfied. It seemed to me that many of those reviews were fake or written in exchange for upgrades. They charged me twice, and I'm still waiting for the refund. I wouldn't recommend staying here.
