Heyu House Hotel

It's on the third floor of huada hotel, not by the Yonex shop and ramen place shown on Google Maps. Don't waste time following that map location.

I got a weekday deal for under NT$1,000, and at that price the value was amazing. A pretty good place, especially if you're traveling solo. Definitely worth it.

The mattress was wet and sat on hollow wooden planks. The room was damp and full of ants, and there was mold all over, with black spots on the bathroom walls, shower curtain, and sink. It felt like I'd ended up somewhere remote in the mountains, so I checked out the next day. Horrible.

The room was small but nicely designed, and I was lucky to get a double instead of a single. I found the bed a little too soft. Towels were supplied, but not a toothbrush or other toiletries. The bathroom was okay, though it had no separate shower area, so shower water splashed onto the toilet. Leave your change of clothes outside, and use a floor mat because the floor gets slippery. There were outlets by the bed and TV, but nowhere to eat except a little table for cups and toilet paper, which was a pain. The TV had YouTube and Netflix, but required logging in. Heyu is on the third floor near Exit Z8 in Zone Z of the Taipei Underground Mall. It felt a bit of a walk from there, and there's a 7-Eleven downstairs. You can drop off luggage early, but outside working hours nobody is there. I worried about leaving mine, but thankfully it was all still there. The main entrance is accessible without restriction. I arrived around 10 PM. The front desk helped me check in at a machine, and I needed my own identification. They gave me the room key afterward. Check-in starts after 4 PM and checkout is before 11 AM. Arrivals after 11 PM cost extra. There's a water dispenser and microwave outside. My room was near the microwave, so I could hear it when people used it. The other guests were considerate that day, so it wasn't otherwise very noisy. All in all, the stay was pretty good, and I'd come back if I had the chance.
