NING XIA No.2 INN

The rooms are a little small, but comfortable and well equipped. It’s a very basic hotel on the corner of Ning Xia street, where the night market is. I got there after 9 pm and found the door locked. I pressed a bunch of buttons outside, and it took about five minutes before the door opened. There was still nobody around, but a sign at the desk pointed me to an automated check-in machine. It eventually gave me a room key.

There was no window in my room, and the bathroom shower had mold all over it, apparently because the ventilation was poor. The room felt stuffy with nowhere for the humidity to escape. I was only there for a few hours during a layover, so it wasn't a major issue for me. They have breakfast and other menu items for an extra charge, plus water, coffee, and hot chocolate available around the clock. If you're staying more than one night, I'd spend extra for a room with windows, more space, and better airflow.

The location worked well, and the service was quite good. Still, I slept badly because the bed cushions were really uncomfortable. I also came back to find my pajamas on the floor, even though I'd left them on my suitcase before going out. I don't think I'd stay here again.

Having to check in after 5 pm felt very late, and the process was awkward if you book through Agoda because you have to speak to someone over a speaker. There's no front desk, just self check-in. That's fine for an Airbnb, but I'd expect a reception at a hotel. To me, this doesn't really feel like a hotel.
