Taipei M Hotel - Main Station

It felt like a nice, safe hostel once we got into our room. The outside looked a bit dodgy, and the renovation or whatever was happening around our third-floor room made that area look very dodgy too. But past the doors with the key card, the rooms were clean and cheerful. Our shared bathrooms were fairly clean as well. The beds, pillows, sheets, and blankets were comfortable, and our room had a big window looking onto the street and the buildings opposite. We were very close to Taipei Main station, but the machine on the 4th floor didn’t work for either check-in or check-out. Reception had to open the glass doors and let us in so we could sort things out.

Good value, with a strategic spot near Taipei main station and friendly, helpful staff. The room had enough room to pack luggage, and although the toilet was shared, it was very clean. I wish there were a water dispenser on every floor so guests wouldn’t have to go to level 4 for water.

The worst accommodation I’ve had. I had a room with a private bathroom, but ventilation was poor, the window wouldn’t open, and there were unpleasant toilet smells coming from other rooms. There was no daily cleaning, regardless of how long you stayed. For a fresh towel, you had to go to Reception each time, even though towels were shared among several rooms. When I ran out of toilet paper and asked for more, they gave me a roll that someone had already used. Avoid this place.

The shared toilet and bath were very clean, as were the rooms, though the rooms felt a little small to me. The common area was nice for working or eating, and the location was great, near Ximending and the Main train station.
