My girlfriend had booked a double room for August 19th to 23rd, but she wanted to cancel and get a refund because the Hong Kong anti-extradition bill protests and strikes were disrupting major roads and transportation. She was concerned that getting to Taiwan might not go smoothly. The hotel refused, saying there was no legitimate reason and that the disruption was due to non-natural factors. When we tried to sort it out, the customer service staff were rude and pushed responsibility onto the booking platform. We then asked the platform's customer service to speak with the hotel, but they came back saying the hotel still refused a refund. Why was this treated as an ordinary cancellation when the anti-extradition bill protests were unstable and outside anyone's control? No one could predict where the protests, disruptions, or riots might lead. Why didn't a manager look into what was happening, instead of having a front desk worker rudely question the customer? And what agreement between the hotel and the guest supposedly prevents the booking platform from getting involved? Why did the male front desk staff member put all the blame on the platform?

I was asleep in the middle of the night with the do-not-disturb button on when someone knocked and asked whether I was in. I got dressed and opened the door, but nobody was there. After I called out twice, I realized the front desk was shouting from somewhere down the hall to ask when I planned to check out. They didn't come speak to me face-to-face. It was so rude. Even if it was an emergency, couldn't they have called? And why ask me instead of checking themselves? The place is also incredibly hard to find. There’s no sign, Google Maps doesn't help, and the phone number doesn't work. I had to press the emergency call button in the elevator before anyone would come up. I've stayed in over a dozen hotels in Taipei and have never had guests treated with such disrespect. I won't stay here again.

They couldn't provide the double room I had booked in advance and said only two single rooms were available. Why book ahead, then? The hotel was also extremely hard to find. In the bathroom, I waited ages for hot water, and when I called the front desk, they said it took longer because my room was far away. Standing there naked until the water finally heated up was shocking. I won't be back, even if the stay were free.

The front desk staff were helpful, but getting there was a struggle. There was no sign and the address wasn't clear, so I called the hotel manager three times for directions. The instructions still weren't clear, and the manager yelled at me before hanging up.

27/4/62. The room was small and compact, but the best part was being close to places to eat and things to visit in Maipe. You can walk to places within about 500 meters. The two-bed room sleeps three and cost 2200 Taiwan dollars per night, about 1.21 Thai baht.
