Wowhappy Taipei (Quarantine Hotel)

For us, the location was great, with plenty of places to eat, shop, sightsee, and catch the MRT. We've stayed here twice before and will probably come back. The rooms were fairly clean by Western standards, with a large tub and shower, but the cleaning products left a strong perfume smell. The breakfast setup with the adjacent business "louisa coffee" was terrible, don't bother. Laundry is small but reasonably priced, though you may have to wait for other guests. There is one washer, 25 minutes for 60 NTD, and one dryer, 40 minutes for 70 NTD. It was a little noisy from both other guests and the street below.

The staff were friendly and polite, the only positive thing about this dilapidated, neglected hotel. The room was much smaller than the photos on Booking.com and Google made it look. I felt scammed into thinking it would be spacious. The sink was already broken with lots of visible cracks, and it hadn't been repaired or replaced. It really showed how run down and neglected the place is. My husband got a lot of mosquito bites on both arms during our stay. I never expected mosquitoes in a fully air conditioned hotel room. The dryer didn't dry the clothes at all. We tried two cycles, wasting time and money, and they were still very damp. We ended up taking a cab to a 24 hour laundromat about 2.5 km away. There was a strong cigarette smoke smell on level 9, the top floor where we stayed, and no ventilation to clear it out. Smokers outside the main entrance were sending fumes into the lift lobby and reception. It smelled like a smoking hotel. The video attached was taken just before we went down to check out the room.

A good area, about a 5 minute walk from the MRT. The hotel was great, with a spacious room, large bathroom, and jacuzzi bathtub. No complaints.

The lobby has a coffee machine available 24 hours a day. Breakfast is more like a snack from the neighboring Louisa Café, for example a small piece of toast and a drink. The rooms were beautiful, large, and soundproofed, with spacious bathrooms and a whirlpool tub.
