Backpackers' Hostel Taoyuan Airport

I’d read some worrying reviews, but I had no problems at this small hostel. My private room was simple and clean, with a hot shower that had good pressure. The room and immediate area were fine, and there’s a 7-Eleven right next door. It is a bit noisy from planes and the thin walls, though earplugs solved that easily. The bigger drawback is getting there by public transport from the airport or city center. They offer a free transfer from the A11 metro station, but my phone plan only had data, no minutes, so I had to take an Uber from the station.

It’s a cozy, clean place, but public transport is sparse, so you may need to arrange taxis to and from the hostel. A polite man first helped me, though his English was limited and he did what he could. Later, the owner was very kind and helpful, booked a taxi for my flight, and had lots to talk about.

A very disappointing check-in. I booked in October 23 and came back three times, but there was no one there to welcome me or handle reservations. The phone outside the hostel didn’t work, and the person in charge never answered when I called from my own phone. I couldn’t get in and had to find somewhere else.

The owner was very hospitable. He picked me up from the MRT station, showed me some food and nearby restaurants, and booked an early morning ride to the airport. The room was fair for the price. ☺️
