Senator Apartments Maidan

Breakfast was fine, though a little underwhelming; I preferred the Ukrainian dishes to the egg options. Otherwise, I had a great week here on business. Room 27 was huge, with separate sleeping, lounge, and kitchen areas, and the bathroom was spacious and pleasant to use. Everyone on staff was friendly, helpful, and easy to speak with in English. I'd happily recommend the hotel.

The rooms were spacious, modern, and very clean, and the location put the main sights in central Kiev within easy reach. Independence Square is just behind the hotel, and the metro is about a hundred meters away. The price felt a little high, but the hotel and spot were very good. Look for the large Senator sign on the building so you don't miss the entrance.

I had a comfortable stay in the studio, with a great bed that helped me sleep well each night. The room was clean and well equipped, and the shower room was enormous, the biggest I've seen across hotels of different star levels. It's also right behind Independence Square, with restaurants and grocery stores only a short walk away. Check-in was a hassle because the hotel's bank declined my cards, and staff had to contact their financial institution to resolve it. I can't say why it happened, since I'd travelled through several countries and this was the first time. Bringing more than one card might be useful, just in case.

The staff were impressively quick whenever we needed something. They brought replacement thermostat batteries and a missing plate within seconds, replaced a glass we broke without charging us, and gave us Prosecco and chocolate for New Year's Eve. We stayed five nights over the holiday and were very satisfied. The one-bedroom apartment and studio were both clean, well equipped, and had comfortable beds. The central location near Independence Square was convenient. There were a few downsides. Our apartment was only about 17°C when we arrived because the heating was off, not just the thermostat with dead batteries; it would've been good if they had warmed it beforehand. Rooms on the seventh floor get noisy in rain. Internet was often poor in the evenings, though we don't know if that was the provider or a wider issue in Kiev.
