Tomas Apartments

I stayed at Tomas Apartment for 3-4 days. It’s about 3km from Independence square, outside the main tourist area. I actually liked getting a feel for a more residential part of the city. The apartment itself was comfortable, but the old building needs repairs and better upkeep. There’s graffiti indoors, and the vinyl flooring in the elevator is peeling up. For the same price, you can find a more convenient location in a better-kept building.

Inside, it’s a really beautiful appartment, close to the center of Kiev and a great price. The entrance looks very old and the hallway has a 1950s smell, which doesn’t match the nice apartment. There are a few small repairs needed. The bath looks luxurious, though several knobs were broken, and we didn’t need those ones anyway. The bathroom sink drained too slowly, so it probably needs cleaning. Otherwise, I’d have given it five stars. I still recommend the place.

The rooms look nice, but the buildings they’re in are falling apart. I was also locked outside because management forgot to give me one of the keys. There are power cuts every day, sometimes lasting for hours. When the power goes out, the magnetic door lock shuts and you can’t leave the room. What happens if there’s a fire? This is a DEATH TRAP. Avoid!

I was pretty satisfied. The place was easy to find and centrally located, and the host was kind. My apartment was on the small side, but had all the equipment and worked out fine for one person.
