We had breakfast there twice, lunch once, and a family party at the pub, and enjoyed it all. Sunday lunch was fully booked, which gives you an idea of how popular it is with locals. The pub is lovely and friendly, and the staff were pleasant and helpful throughout. We had one hiccup, but the staff handled it very professionally and were very apologetic. These things happen, and their response was excellent. We’ll definitely return to Arundel. We stayed in one of the courtyard family rooms at St Mary's Gate Inn in Jan 2026, with our group spread across three rooms. They were nicely decorated and comfortable, with thoughtful touches like a coffee machine and pods. The bathrooms felt a little dated, but were perfectly functional. Breakfast was included both days. Just bear in mind that cooked breakfast is only available at weekends, with a continental option on weekdays. That suited us fine after an indulgent weekend.

Breakfast was plentiful, with cereals, fruit, yogurt, pastries, and a cooked menu at weekends. Our rooms were spotless and the beds comfortable, and we appreciated the little extras, including Faith in Nature products, a pod coffee machine, and a choice of teas. The whole team was outstanding. Nori deserves a special mention for going out of their way to make our family group’s stay extra special. St Mary's Gate offered lovely British hospitality. Thank you.

The Inn and Arundel are both easy to recommend. The town was pleasant, with plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants, and nice pubs to browse. We found enough to do for a couple of days, though it may be better to come in spring, summer, or autumn when the castle is open. We spent half a day in Bognor Regis: the promenade was nice until the rain started, but the rest of the town didn’t have much to recommend it. I’d sooner explore the villages and countryside around the South Downs. We stayed a couple of nights in a downstairs annex room. It was clean and comfortable, the pub was very nice, and all the staff were friendly. The continental breakfast was more than adequate and set us up well for the day. The Catholic Cathedral next door is fabulous and worth a visit.

A family member booked our group in for a pre-Christmas meal, and I was pleasantly surprised. Pub meals often disappoint me, but everything tasted homemade, hot, and delicious. The atmosphere was cosy, even though it was busy when we arrived, and the staff stayed polite and attentive throughout. Well done to the whole team.

Just one night here last week, but a really lovely stay. The location beside the Cathedral is perfect, with lovely views down the hill and parking on site. I got a very friendly welcome, and the breakfast service was just as lovely. The midweek buffet had a good variety. I’ll be back!
