The Carpenters Arms

The village pub feel was lovely, and the restaurant food was fantastic, with a good choice and more than enough on the plate. I arrived at short notice after my work plans changed, but the staff were accommodating and found me a room at a very reasonable price. It was well laid out, with a spacious, comfortable bed, and I honestly had the best night’s sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel. I’ll come back when work brings me to the area.

The roast was presented really well, the portions were generous, and it was great value. They have dairy-free dessert and ice cream, plus a good selection of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options. A great pub, good atmosphere and excellent service. 10/10, I’ll be back.

We ended up sitting in the bar area since we’d only booked the day before, and it was a nice spot. The room felt cosy, was a comfortable temperature, and had a lovely vibe. The Sunday lunch was delicious. It was quite pricey, especially given that we only had soft drinks, and the desserts were expensive too. Still, I’d definitely return for the food.

It’s a charming old pub with several dining rooms, and though it’s a bit out of the way, the trip is worth it. I went for a Christmas meal with friends. My nut roast was very tasty, while the others had traditional turkey, and the food was good with plenty to eat.
