We had the traditional English breakfast three mornings in a row, and most attractions were either an easy bus ride away or no more than a half-hour walk. Our basement twin room was great, with no mould or damp at all. The bathroom looked very new, and the bedroom was tidy with complimentary refreshments.

The room felt dated, and finding stains on both the sheets and the floor was disappointing. At our first breakfast, the staff member serving looked flustered and rushed. We and some other guests tried to help where we could. We understood she was probably under pressure, but at times she came across as rude, which affected the experience. There were good points as well. We arrived early and were able to park in a good spot in the secure area behind the property. The hotel is well placed for getting around the city, and the front desk staff were kind, pleasant and welcoming from the moment my boyfriend and I arrived.

The included breakfast is very good, and there's even a takeaway option. We've stayed several times now, and the friendly, accommodating staff always make us feel welcome. The rooms are comfortable, the beds especially so, and some bathrooms have been updated and are very nice.

There was a plumbing problem: whenever someone upstairs showered, the ceiling leaked. The staff were so kind and helpful throughout, though. They apologised, brought towels and looked into it right away. The room was otherwise warm and cosy, with a very comfortable bed and a lovely little tea and coffee tray. It's also in a beautiful, quiet location. I'll definitely come back if I'm in Bristol again :)) Big thanks to the tall guy who brought the towels and checked me in, and to yanna ❤️❤️.
