The staff were fabulous, and the service was great. A lovely hotel.

We only stopped for scones and coffee, but I’m planning to return for afternoon tea. I haven’t seen the rooms; the rest of the hotel looks luxurious. You can tell a lot of money has gone into restoring it to its former grandeur.

The staff were welcoming and professional, and breakfast was excellent. Our two bathrooms had been beautifully renovated, while the rooms were tastefully decorated. A charming Scottish hotel with a lovely mix of traditional and modern.

We were disappointed to find the Potting Shed closed for lunch. We used to eat there often under the Roman Camp Hotel and have stayed at the hotel too. This time, before an afternoon walk, we ate in the hotel lounge, where the tables were so low we had to eat off our knees. At £20 for a sandwich, that setup really wasn't what we'd expect. Our salads and sandwiches took over an hour to arrive, despite us choosing them because we thought they'd be quick before our walk. They kindly took one salad off the bill because of the wait, but that didn't fix the awkward lap eating or our disappointment with the service, especially at those prices. We used to enjoy coming here, so it's sad, but we won't be back anytime soon.
