The bar was a nice place to unwind after work, with a pool table and friendly locals. The staff were welcoming, and I had plenty of laughs with them. Food was a highlight: steak was 10/10, pizza 9/10, cheesy chips spot on, and breakfast 10/10. Jay the chef was a really nice guy, and breakfast was freshly made to order with great ingredients. I stayed four days for work. The single bed wasn't my choice since the room had been booked for me, but I enjoyed the stay and the hotel was handy for work.

The free pool table was a great bonus, and the food, beer and hospitality were all good. The local people were easy to get along with, and there was plenty of banter and merriment. Scott, a regular, was great, as were Maria Lark and her daughter, plus Claire and Fiona. A really good night at this village pub.

The rooms could use an update and feel a bit dated, though they were still comfortable enough. Breakfast was tasty, with a good range of cereals, fruit juice and cooked options, plus fresh coffee. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, so it's a good place to stay or just stop in for food.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was great: generous portions, a choice of Scottish or English, refillable coffee and takeaway cups for the day's work. I was in the area for work and found the hotel fine for a night, though less appealing for a whole week. The village is quiet, with a Co-op almost next door, and parking either in front or across the road. I slept well in my slightly dated room. My colleague's room only had blinds, so light came through. Dinner was good, and I ordered fish and chips both nights because the fish was fresh and cooked well. Portions were large. I'd stay again when travelling north for work, probably for a night or two.

A dog-friendly local pub with a great beer selection. The bar opens before the restaurant, so don't let the closed sign on Google put you off.
