Pine Marten, Dunbar by Marston's Inns

We had a fun night out after a friend recommended the place. Hannah gave spot-on suggestions, and both the chicken app and cheese app were delicious. The caramel sundae was incredible, so we ended up ordering two.

The place has a nice atmosphere, and it's quiet enough to have a proper chat. The staff are absolutely lovely. Food was tasty and reasonably priced, with quality at the higher end for pub grub.

Hannah, our waitress, was especially attentive, and the staff were excellent. My halloumi fries starter and fish and chips were really good, while my husband said his mixed grill was perfect. It was Valentine’s Day, and this was the best meal we'd had in a while. Thanks, Pine Martin.

Our pug Betty gets a welcome break from the car at The Pine Marten, where she can have water and treats. It's dog-friendly, and the staff are friendly and attentive, making sure we have what we need. We stop there four or five times a year, and the food is consistently good. This time we had the steak and Malbec pie, one with chips and the other with mash. It was hot, tasty, and much better than you'd expect from a chain pub. We travel from Newcastle to Scotland regularly and always make The Pine Marten our halfway stop on both the outward and return journeys. With McDonald's just across the road, we don't understand choosing it when proper food here costs around the same. Highly recommended.
