Princes Street Suites

The service and housekeeping were amazing, and the lift has a personality of its own. We had a mega apartment with two bedrooms, a sitting and dining area, plus the obvious kitchen, equipped with everything your heart could want. Step out of the hotel and you're right in the middle of everything. I also loved the view of the cemetery.

We were in town for a family Christmas visit, and the location was really convenient. The two-bedroom suite suited us well and was fairly quiet. The front desk was helpful during our check-in and check-out. I didn't get the graveyard view that some other guests have complained about, though I would actually have liked that! 👍

At Princess Street Suites, I was very pleased with the apartment. The staff were welcoming and ready to help, and the place was clean, comfortable, and equipped with what we needed. Edinburgh's main historic landmarks are all within walking distance, so the location worked perfectly. A convenient, good-quality base for enjoying the city, and I'd recommend it.

The room was clean, but felt institutional, like an old people's home, and the hotel's general facilities were very basic: a small bar doubling as reception and the breakfast area. I found its Four Star “Hotel” rating on TripAdvisor and Booking.com misleading. The room looked out onto a Gothic graveyard only 5 metres away, with tombs and statues. If that view and the idea of zombies as neighbours would keep you up, be warned. The website photos and videos somehow avoid showing it, and we hadn't bargained for this on a £505-a-night vacation. When we chose to move hotels, we were refused a refund under their policy and had to scramble for another room in Edinburgh. We found rooms at several Five Star hotels for the same price. I gave the General Manager a chance to put things right, but he said previous guests had never raised this, which doesn't match the reviews. He offered 50% off if we ever returned, but no refund, apparently because we'd used the toilet when we first arrived. The policies felt more focused on taking customers' money than doing the right thing, so I wouldn't recommend the hotel. Check the details carefully and take the “chic” claims with a pinch of salt.
