The beef Sunday roast was a real treat, especially the tender meat with a giant Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings. We also loved the haggis starter and shared a delicious crumble for dessert. The pub was busy and had the atmosphere you’d want from a local country pub. We sat in a booth with our pup and enjoyed it all. There was a broad choice of beer and wine, and the menu had plenty of pub classics. Thanks to Hazel and the staff for another great visit.

I enjoyed the food, and booking online as a solo traveller was quick and easy. It was a very loud, busy restaurant, and I was seated beside a party. Service was brisk and efficient. The card payment left a bad impression, though: I wasn’t offered a chance to add a gratuity, then noticed on the receipt that one had already been included but was optional. I would’ve tipped anyway, but it felt cheeky to call it optional when I hadn’t been given that choice.

This review is very late, but that was hands down the best meal I had in Edinburgh. Every dish was so delicious and the ingredients tasted fresh. The staff were welcoming and attentive too. I’ll definitely be back!

The food was well prepared and presented, and the service was excellent. There’s a good range of dishes for different tastes, and the chef seems like they could be given room to get creative. The venue is cosy and has plenty of local customers. I loved the outside booth, and dogs and families are welcome. Inside, a few areas could use attention, especially the cramped, tired-looking end by the TV. A real fire would be a great feature if possible.

I’ve been here several times over the years and would recommend it. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I couldn’t fault the service. There’s a good selection of food and drinks, with generous portions. The Cullen skink stood out, and my chicken and chorizo pie of the day was very tasty.
