We stayed three nights for a competition and the twin room with a sea view was just what we needed. It was spacious and clean, with a hot, powerful shower, and the hotel is right on the seafront. There was ample parking outside and on the street by the front door. The staff were friendly and very accommodating with our dog. We enjoyed both the full English and continental breakfast. A wonderful hotel, and we’ll definitely be back.

The breakfast was good, a simple full English with cereal and toast, though it gets quite busy. Staff were helpful and friendly, and the price was really affordable for a bank holiday weekend, especially as I booked late. I enjoyed my stay and will come again. My single room was surprisingly spacious, with a very comfortable bed and a stunning sea view across the Riviera. Some rooms are a little dated, but that adds to the charm. It’s a really nice B&B, less than five minutes from the beach and relatively close to the town centre.

The stay was relaxing, and the rooms were really nice. There’s a lift, though you still have six steps to manage at the entrance. Shops are very close and easy to reach, with places to eat nearby for every taste; food is also available from the hotel. The beach is close, and the panoramic estuary views are amazing. We watched boats, ferries and boat trips going up and down the water.

The parking was the one thing to keep in mind. We got the last space right outside the hotel, but the on-street parking was busy, so we might have struggled otherwise. I’d researched a nearby long-stay car park just in case. I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at Ashton Court Hotel. The staff were welcoming, the bar area was clean and tidy, and it was a nice place to sit, relax or meet people while looking out at the sea. There’s also a lovely garden area at the back, tables at the front, and a small private grassy patch across the road for hotel guests. My single room was spacious, with a big bed and a tidy ensuite bathroom with a nice power shower. The town centre is around a 10 minutes’ walk away, and the seafront, restaurants, cafes and bars are only two minutes away. Breakfast was great, with cooked dishes made fresh to order. I had a bacon and egg sandwich. A small suggestion would be to add hash browns and fresh fruit like bananas and apples. I’d definitely recommend staying here and would consider coming back if I’m in the area.

The shared areas were thoughtfully decorated, from the bar and breakfast rooms to the hallway, and breakfast was good. Staff were friendly and sorted out a towel issue, replacing it and apologising at reception. There’s free parking on the road, and the garden has new benches overlooking the seafront. Our room, though, faced the garden. The small room badly needs modernising. The furniture was chipped and dated, and the ceiling showed signs of an old leak that hadn’t been repaired. There were a couple of pests in the bath when we arrived, and the towel we were given had clearly been used before being folded. There were very few accessible sockets, just a double on one side of the bed and another for the kettle and TV. The room seemed to have been patched up over the years, with paint over wallpaper and a half-hearted attempt to wrap the old patterned bed base. Some features were much older than I am. If the rooms were renovated to match the communal areas, I’d have given the hotel a different rating.
