The biggest drawbacks were breakfast and parking. There weren’t many vegetarian or vegan choices, and the toaster was burning the toast. The hotel has no parking of its own, but offers a discounted rate at the lot next door: overnight parking is £24, or £12 with the hotel discount. If you take your car out, though, you pay again every time you re-enter, so it’s inconvenient. Best to park once and leave it there overnight. We stayed just one night and had a comfortable room with a lovely view after a complimentary upgrade. It was spacious, clean, and the bed was excellent. It’s pet-friendly, too. The staff were welcoming, and Sarah, who checked us in, explained everything clearly, was very polite, and arranged the upgrade. We had a pleasant stay, though breakfast choices and the parking setup could be better.

The only bit of dust I noticed was behind the sofa bed, after I moved it so we could all see the TV from our beds. Otherwise, the room was nice, with a massive TV, comfy bed, and the sofa bed already made up with clean bedding. The shower room and toilet were huge and spotless. The check-in was simple, thanks to a top-class guy at the front desk with a black ponytail and glasses. I never caught his name. He chatted with the kids and asked why we were there. When we said it was for the James Arthur gig, he went online to show us that James Arthur was definitely playing that night after cancelling his show the night before. Perfect for a gig at the hydro. We’d definitely stay again.

We had a little trouble unloading our luggage when our group tour arrived by coach. It had to pull partly onto the road, so it tilted a bit. That was the only inconvenience. The hotel itself is spacious, clean, and modern. I especially loved the huge lobby, with lots of comfortable places to sit and relax. Its location is fantastic for exploring, just a short walk from the River Clyde and Glasgow’s iconic bridges.

Parking was the worst part. The hotel concession brings overnight parking down to £12, but if you use your car several times within 24 hours, you have to pay again on every re-entry. It’s probably the poorest hotel parking setup I’ve come across. The location is good, though, with easy access to transport and the usual attractions within walking distance. The rooms were decent enough and housekeeping had kept them clean, but they looked tired, with marks and stains. I also didn’t like the toilet or the frosted, transparent bathroom door and surround. Breakfast had a good selection and the staff service was good.

Dogs are welcome, which deserves a massive thumbs up. I loved everything about the hotel, especially the location. The room was light, airy, and clean. Breakfast cost a little much, but it was really good and had a large selection. I’d definitely recommend it.
