We paid £44 for a Saturday night, which was great value. My wife and I stayed because we were seeing a show at the Victoria Theatre, just a five-minute walk away. The hotel is right outside the train station, check-in and checkout were quick, and the room was clean, spacious and comfortable. We both slept well.

The train station is only a two-minute walk away, and the hotel was clean and tidy with reasonable rates. We’d got our booking dates mixed up, but the staff were professional and very helpful, rebooking everything for us. A great overnight business stay.

The staff are friendly and glad to help, and the location is handy for the Piece Hall and Parish Church, right across from the railway station. The hotel is having some major improvements, with the old dark wood replaced by a brighter, airier look. Rooms are clean but seem a bit tired. Hopefully the work keeps going room by room, because this place could be a real cracker.

The location is perfect, but I wouldn’t stay here again. I paid £45 for a room that felt very outdated, with dirty carpet and creaky beds and floorboards. The bath tap got stuck and wouldn’t turn off. There was a tiny kettle, and no hairdryer, despite the listing saying there would be one. At check-in I was told there’d be a £100 holding fee. When I questioned it, the staff member was a little rude.

For £50 a night, you get a decent, comfortable bed in the heart of Halifax, not a five-star hotel. The room had tea and coffee, a shower and bath, and a good-sized TV. It’s a little dated, but everything was okay.
