The in-room guide was especially useful for planning our days. It listed what was happening each week, including whether cruise ships might dock, so we could visit the historic sites and shop at quieter times. John also knows a lot about the area's history and shared tips beyond the obvious big attractions. We loved the water and garden view from our room, the elegant furnishings, and the delicious breakfast. We were absolutely thrilled with our stay and highly recommend it!

Waking up to the views from our first-floor suite was a joy. It was bigger than my house, such indulgence, but worth it. The house is lovely and full of character, and our host was so warm and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. We stayed two nights and were sad to leave. It's also a great base for travelling around the island.

John was such a lovely host, and the breakfasts were wonderful. The house has a fascinating history, and our room was fantastic, spotless, and very comfortable. I can't rate Graemeshall highly enough!

We'd happily come back to Orkney. Our four-night stay was wonderful, and John made us feel very welcome. The peaceful location has spectacular scenery right outside, though most major towns are 10-15 minutes away by car, so you'll likely want to rent one or arrange cabs ahead of time, as we did. The restored historic home is beautiful, and the spacious, four-room Laird's Suite had water views and very comfortable furnishings.
