Being able to check in from midday was a nice bonus, and the WiFi was fast. It’s also about a 10-minute walk from Horley train station, one stop from Gatwick Airport. The shuttle to Gatwick is a must, much cheaper than a taxi, and they’ll take you to whichever terminal you need. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was good. I didn’t want a full English, so I ordered mushrooms and egg on toast off the menu, and it arrived within three minutes. Good value. I’ll use it again.

The restaurant serves simple, good food, and the bed was comfortable. Our room had enough space for three people, and getting to the Gatwick terminals was easy. We stayed one night and would come back.

I was happy with the cozy, tidy room and the convenient spot near the airport. The shuttle was very affordable too. The letdown was dinner: I ordered calamari expecting it to be homemade, as advertised, but it was frozen and easily the worst calamari I’ve had. I told the server, though they didn’t really acknowledge it. Since I didn’t eat it, I expected not to be charged. I’d avoid using frozen food when advertising homemade meals. Apart from that, it’s a really lovely place.

Hard to sleep here before a morning flight. The room was noisy from the road and its boiler kept switching on and off. People upstairs were talking loudly from midnight onward. The fish and chips cost £20.92 and tasted microwaved. Avoid.
