315 Bar And Restaurant

The waiting staff were friendly and lovely, and the decor was really nice. But the gentleman at the front of house wasn’t welcoming, which left my sister and me feeling awkward. We’d booked steak night and arrived at 6pm, when it was very quiet and we were the only guests for quite a while. We ordered fillet steaks medium and medium-well, but both came out well done and very tough. There were only a few chips and a little green veg, so I was still hungry afterward. The latte was very strong for me and cost £4.50. Desserts were £9, so we didn’t get one. I know this is a popular place, and maybe we caught it on an off night, but I’m afraid I won’t give it another try.

There was hardly anyone in the restaurant, and even a basic burger was a struggle. We’d first called to ask about a bar meal and were told no, though we could book the restaurant. My burger was burnt on both sides. They made another, but that one was still burnt on one side. Nobody offered sauce or an apology. The waiter kept switching between serving us and loading the dishwasher. When a waitress asked how things were, we said not really good; she said she’d speak to the manager, but we never saw him. At the bar while paying, we saw people eating bar meals. We asked why we’d been told we couldn’t have one, and were told those weren’t really meals, just sandwiches, which was all we’d wanted in the first place. The service was dire, and I’d never recommend the place. We’d also had a bad experience with a room booking before. In response to your reply, I was seated facing the waiter putting pots in the dishwasher and looking through the entrance. I wasn’t looking through a wall. You didn’t apologise, as my partner pointed out straight away, so who’s lying now? I never said we stayed that night. We tried to stay on an earlier occasion but had to walk out for various reasons. I didn’t order a burger with a side of sauce, and nobody asked whether we wanted condiments.

The meal itself was very good, though the crab and haddock croquette starter was a letdown at £12. Service didn’t match the price. I waited 15 minutes for a drink in an empty bar, then we were taken straight into the restaurant without the chance to sit and enjoy a drink first, as we usually do. When I asked about sitting in the conservatory, I was called “darling” and told it couldn’t be guaranteed. It seemed there was no manager organising the restaurant staff. I’d expect better service at this price.

The food was fantastic, both at the restaurant the night before and at the wedding itself. Carole and I were married here on 17/11/25, and the whole experience was outstanding from start to finish. Our rooms and those for our guests were perfect, and the facilities were great. A huge thank you to Anastasia and the whole team. Nothing was too much trouble, and they made our day even more special.
