The front desk staff were okay, but I can’t think of another positive. This was the worst Travelodge I’ve stayed in. The room was dirty, with hair in the plughole and crisps under the beds. Getting only 30 minutes of WiFi is an absolute joke. Booking.com listed a restaurant, though there wasn’t one. There are places to eat nearby, which is partly okay, but the listing is still misleading. Parking was ridiculous too: no onsite car park, so you have to pick a paid option nearby. I was with my 83-year-old mum, who has mobility issues, and it was very hard for her to walk back and forth from the car to the room several times, especially after a funeral. I had to keep moving the car to avoid fines. They should make it very clear there’s no car park. Other complaints show I’m not the only one who got caught out.

The location was spot on, the food was good and plentiful, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and things were otherwise quiet apart from the fan, but that fan kept us awake most of the night. It was noisy, and its green light shone in our eyes all night too. Lights from outside also came into the room. Curtains that sat flush against the rail instead of hanging on hooks might fix that. The bed was uncomfortable, and parking can be difficult at times.

I eventually got a room around 7:30, but there were five other people still waiting in reception for theirs to be cleaned, some for about as long as I had. When I came back from getting dinner at around 7, my room still wasn’t ready. I’d arrived just after 6, well past the usual 3pm check-in, and was told they didn’t know when any rooms would be available because they were still being cleaned. To their credit, the staff didn’t push me down the queue when I went out to eat. The place is shabby and noisy, from both other rooms and outside. The room door was hard to lock, and light showed around parts of it from the hallway. Even after cleaning, the heater was still dirty. I was advised to use the lift to the first floor to avoid the vomit in the stairwell. My expectations for Leatherhead Travelodge were already very low, and it was significantly worse. Avoid if you can!

It’s 2026 and you still have to pay for WiFi. So frustrating and stupid. Don’t take breakfast either, what they serve isn’t breakfast. I don’t know who this hotel is for. It’s below any standard anywhere in the world. Even African hotels have free internet and breakfast.

We’ve stayed at this Travelodge many times over the past couple of years and have watched it deteriorate badly. The toilets in reception have been out of order for at least six months, and the staff are poorly trained and rude, though there are one or two notable exceptions. The rooms and hallways are filthy. We’ve seen blood stains on carpets, dirty walls with “unknown liquids” spilled on them, and rooms that haven’t been cleaned properly. The toilets are particularly dirty, and the sink plugholes are lined with hair. Soap dispensers are empty, broken, or filled with watered-down soap. We’ve also arrived after 6pm and been told the manager messed up the cleaning rota, so our room wouldn’t be ready for another hour or so. Another time, a staff member burst into our room at 12:15 at night and, finding us there, demanded to know what we were doing in that room. There have been loud parties above us on the fourth floor in the middle of the night, with someone heavy deliberately jumping up and down. The hotel also appears to be used by prostitutes. We’ve seen multiple men visiting particular rooms, and once a used condom was left outside one of them until the following day. I could go on, but I’d avoid this hotel unless there’s no other option. It’s dirty and poorly maintained throughout, and I’m not sure how it still qualifies as a Travelodge.
