It was my first time at a Premier Inn and I loved it. The price was very good, and I’d happily stay at another one in future. My room was quiet, with a huge double bed all to myself. The shower had good pressure and the towels were lovely and clean. There was a good-quality TV, plus the kettle, cups, tea, coffee and milk you’d expect.

The staff made a big difference. They were welcoming and helpful, and check-in and checkout both went very smoothly. Food was good, just as I expect at a Premier Inn, and the downstairs bar was pleasant enough. It’s a handy Lincoln location, close to the Bailgate area, with the cathedral visible up the hill. Parking behind the hotel was reasonable at £7.40 for 24 hours when I visited. The standard rooms have what you need for a good night’s sleep, while the more premium ones add a couple of extras, including Nespresso coffee.

Getting to the historic part of Lincoln means tackling a very steep hill. Be ready for that if you plan to walk up to the Cathedral or other parts of the old centre. Inside, it had the comfort and quiet I expect from Premier Inns. Breakfast was very good, and the staff were attentive without getting in the way. The bar was pleasant in the evening too, with a decent selection of drinks.

The restaurant and bar area could use more consistent temperatures. It kept shifting between warm and cool, which was the one drawback in an otherwise lovely stay. For parking, the car park behind the hotel is a good choice. The upper floors have very wide spaces, and the PayByPhone app makes things easier. We ate at the restaurant on our first night, then went out to Lincoln’s cafes, bars and restaurants for the rest of our visit. The location worked well for the cathedral and shopping areas too. Ashley, the duty manager, gave us a warm welcome and made check-in smooth. Wendy and the housekeeping team were amazing: the rooms were spotlessly clean, and the beds and pillows were very comfortable.

We’ll be back in April and plan to book the Premier Plus room again. It was immaculate, and being on the top floor meant we didn’t hear any noise. We couldn’t check in using the QR code, but Ashlar got us booked in quickly and efficiently. We had breakfast on all three mornings. Lynne was happy to take our order on the first day, when breakfast was cooked to order, then it was buffet style on the second and third. Andy cooked each morning and got our food just right, including making our well-done order separately. There were great breakfast choices, and the poached eggs were to die for. The restaurant was clean and welcoming. Thanks to Lynne, Andy and Ashlar for being so attentive. We really appreciated it and are already looking forward to coming back.
