The staff and service were great, and they took good care of me. Each night there was a treat, from fresh bottled orange juice to cookies to a box of chocolate. The Mayfair location is great, and my room was quiet with a very comfortable bed. The amenities were nice too. I’d have rated it a 4 because of a few minor things, like there being no convenient power outlet by the bed or in the bathroom. That made it hard to blow dry my hair.
The lounge was very good, and Peter was a great host who showed us how to make the most of it. Of the hotel restaurants, I’d go to Gordon Ramsey. I wouldn’t go to the lucky cat. We spoke with some residents who thought the food wasn’t worth the price and said they’d been overcharged, with an 80 pound surcharge for food, I heard. This is one of my favorite London hotels, and I almost hate to see it packed. There aren’t many rooms, yet it’s pricier than the others. It sits just behind Oxford street’s busy hustle and bustle, but is quiet enough to rest. I disagree with other posts saying the rooms are too small. It’s an older hotel, so the rooms are pretty big. We fit two large and two small suitcases comfortably and could still walk around. I also don’t think it’s too noisy: the double layered windows keep sound out. A room facing the garden might help. The staff are very nice, and we’ll definitely return.
The staff are what make this property shine. Mr. Rajalakshmi and the team took fabulous care of us after a couple of hiccups during our first 24 hours, and we look forward to coming back. The doormen, Mohammad and David (?), were pleasant and went out of their way to help with our daily trips. Bell services were also incredibly helpful as we came and went to Heathrow. Fresh flower arrangements rotated during our stay, and they were stunning. The room was spacious even by US standards, and three of us, a couple with a young adult, didn’t feel cramped. It had a large bathroom and nice cold air con. The lounge was lovely, and the onsite dining and service were top notch. Don’t miss breakfast at Gordon Ramsay’s, and late-night in-room dining didn’t disappoint. The Bond Street tube is nearby. We liked being outside the hectic tourist areas while still close to London’s sights, Hyde Park and other nearby options. We hope to return to this gem.
We attended a Palestine Gaza black tie event at this beautiful venue. The large hall was booked and set up wonderfully, and the food came from a catering company. Everything the venue handled was brilliant, and the staff were friendly. It’s on a main road in Central London, close to branded high street shopping streets. Parking is available on nearby streets and in car parks.
The service and location were great, with no complaints there. But we stayed eight nights, and the upgraded room was pathetic: very small and without a proper shower. For the price, I expected a luxurious suite and didn’t get one. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Look elsewhere.
