Assheton Arms Hotel

Looking out the window, I saw rats wandering through piles of garbage, a pretty grim view. The room and common areas were dirty, and the whole place seemed neglected and poorly maintained. A pub right beside the hotel played extremely loud music late into the night, so it felt like sleeping in a nightclub. Staff were unhelpful when I tried to raise issues, didn't listen, and gave poor, unprofessional explanations. I've travelled a lot, and this was easily my worst hotel stay. I booked only because there were no other hotels available in the area during an emergency, and I regret it. I absolutely wouldn't recommend it.

AVOID. The shared toilet and bathroom clearly hadn't had a proper clean. The walls are paper thin, so you hear the neighbours and should expect a terrible night's sleep. The kettle has to be plugged in down on the floor, which feels very safe, if you ask me 😂

there was dirt everywhere, bugs all over the place, and we left with painful bites. as two 18 year old girls, we were scared enough that we took turns sleeping so one of us could stay awake and alert. the supposed “private” bathroom was shared, with mould and other people's litter. we wiped the table as a joke to see if it was dirty, and the wipe came up black. it clearly wasn't being cleaned, just having the sheets changed, and not very well.

I stayed one night and found the place filthy and vile. There were blood stains on the sheets, wee on the towels, rubbish everywhere, bird poo on the windowsill, holes in the wall and a leaking toilet. Under the disgusting sheets were so many bed bugs. There were drugs everywhere, and even little baggies in the corridors. When I tried to talk to reception on the way out, they were useless. Worst place I've ever stayed.
