The friendly staff were helpful, and the bar was okay and open. The breakfast was standard fare, but there was plenty of it and it was done well, with machine coffee. It's a good spot for local restaurants and nightlife, and handy for Blues Kitchen. The hotel is in the middle of refurbishment, and the whole place smells bad. I guess that's because all the windows are sealed shut. The river view would have been nice, but scaffolding gets in the way.
The hotel was handy for my one-night stay to see a gig at Ariva studios. Matt at reception quickly and efficiently moved us when there was a problem with our allocated room, which we appreciated. The bed was comfy, the room was as expected from a Premier Inn, and it was very quiet, so we slept well. The hotel feels tired and needs a deep clean. Breakfast was hot and good quality, but the dining room furniture was worn and the carpet could do with replacing.
The breakfast was good, with unlimited continental and Premier Inn Breakfast options. There were fresh sausages, bacon, hash browns, grilled tomatoes, baked beans, cereal, fruit, pastries, tea and fruit juice. The room itself was clean and reasonably spacious, with the usual things like beds, a TV, condiments and a toilet. It's a standard Premier Inn, though the street and lake views are stunning, partly obscured by scaffolding for a new extension. There were problems with damp: the windows were very wet, the outer layer of the surrounding walls was mouldy, and moisture on the walls felt strange when sleeping against one. The only nearby parking was an NCP car park, and for just one night we had to pay an extra £30 for 17 hours. There was no hotel discount. It's a six-floor, ordinary hotel with some cool views, though the scaffolding blocks part of them.
The room had plenty of space and the bed was comfortable. We also got good service and were allowed to check in early when we arrived ahead of time. Getting into town was easy, either on foot or with a short Uber ride. A few things in the accessible room need attention, though: the door wouldn't close fully, the wet room flooded if we used it for too long because it didn't drain quickly enough, and the flush handle was too low for a wheelchair user to reach easily.
The room was what you’d expect from a Premier Inn, and the beds were comfortable. I enjoyed breakfast, especially the sausages and hash browns. The location was good, though all the scaffolding around the hotel made the entrance hard to spot.
