The rooms were clean, the showers hot, and the food and drinks decent. I had a question about additional needs during my stay, and the manager, Chris, I think, was right there with professional service and a stress-free solution. That alone would make me stay again. It was perfect for what I needed.

This place is grim. The rooms smell damp, and the bar and restaurant have no atmosphere, with an interior like an old Pizza Hut. The food’s no better: poor burgers and nachos straight from a packet. I would NEVER come back.

Getting around on foot is the one problem, and it’s down to the local infrastructure, not the hotel. To walk anywhere, you have to cross a dual carriageway and several roundabouts with no footpath. I stayed for several days while working in the Metro Centre. The hotel is quiet and close to the Metro Centre, the rooms were clean, and the restaurant food was nice. Staff at both the hotel and restaurant were super friendly.

The Metro Centre is really close, so the location is perfect, but my stay was a letdown. The room looked clean at first, then I noticed heavy dust build-up in the fans and elsewhere. The temperature swung from freezing to absolutely boiling during the night. Breakfast was a huge disappointment. You pay for “unlimited” cooked food and/or “unlimited” continental, but instead of a normal buffet you’re seated, told to help yourself to the continental items, and then asked to place an order. I wasn’t sure what I was meant to help myself to: there was cereal, hardly any milk, and a lone slice of bread. At 9am I asked if it would be topped up, and a staff member said, “no, what is here is what is left for today.” Later we were asked what we wanted, but several items weren’t available. Only sausage, bacon, and eggs were on offer, and after that we were told we couldn’t order more because supplies had run low. That hardly felt “unlimited.” Then my key stopped working. I went to reception twice before they finally came up to let me in. Since I couldn’t leave and know I’d be able to get back in, I decided to just leave. Save your money and health and stay somewhere else.

The food was great, and both the bar staff and hotel team were lovely. We had to change our booking and add another night, and the staff went above and beyond to let us stay in the same room. Absolutely brilliant. Thanks to you all for a wonderful stay. Thank you, Mr and Mrs Bagworth ❤️
