The restaurant was warm, clean and cosy, and the food was pretty tasty. The location is stunning, so those were real positives. The bar staff member serving us seemed unenthusiastic and rushed, and didn’t come across as approachable. I understand she was serving customers on her own and may not have had time to chat, but the impression was that she didn’t want to be behind the bar. In my opinion, restaurant and hotel staff should be pleasant and have a bit of personality and charm. Just my personal view.

We went on a Sunday afternoon in March 2026 and had a lovely visit. The hotel sits at the top of the high street and has plenty of free parking, which was convenient. You can eat and drink indoors or outside; we chose a table inside. Service was very friendly, and the food came quickly, freshly cooked and delicious. The atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming. We were also impressed by the value: for three adults and two children, food and drinks came to just over £60, a bargain for the amount and quality. We’ll definitely visit again.

We spend time in this lovely village every year, and it’s a great place for a pub visit. A couple of years ago we booked a night at The Queen, but after a deep clean the room smelled of bleach. They moved us to their sister pub just around the corner, The Three Tuns. It was closed to the public that day, so we had the place and its fantastic beer garden to ourselves.

We were told food was being served when we arrived, then directed to the back bar. After buying two drinks and sitting down to check the menu, we found out at the point of ordering that most dishes had sold out the previous day. We would have appreciated being told about the limited options before sitting down, since otherwise we wouldn’t have stayed for drinks. The staff member at the bar was also quite rude. Poor communication and service made for a disappointing visit.
