The Cliff Top Inn Hotel

We enjoyed walking along the sandy beach in the evening and again the next morning. The hotel is right on the seafront, and our deluxe double had a lovely sea view. The room was clean, modern and had everything we wanted. Breakfast was cooked to order, so it was fresh and tasty, with cereals and as much toast as you like. I'd book again if I needed somewhere in the area.

The room wasn't ready when we arrived at 3 p.m., an hour after the 2 p.m. check-in time, so we waited 40 minutes. There were no courtesy drinks while we waited. The room was run down, with hairs on the soap dispenser, dust and cobwebs. We booked a family room advertised as soundproof, but it clearly wasn't; loud music carried on until 11 p.m. and kept our three-year-old and us awake. That evening the manager was unapproachable while drinking with a customer, and in the morning avoided us. There was no follow-up. A poor place to stay, and I'd advise people to avoid it.

The room and bathroom were very small and smelled strongly of septic tank. Opening the windows helped a lot after a while, though a musty smell remained, even in the corridor. We were only staying one night, thankfully, so didn't complain, but I see other customers have had the same experience. They really should address it. A three-star hotel? I don't think so, and we certainly won't return.
