The staff were always there and a real credit to the hotel, even though there wasn’t anything they could do about the problems. The road noise at night was bad, and headlights from cars going around the roundabout came through the curtains. I’d paid extra to choose a room, but if I’d known, I’d have picked the other side by the car park, though that might be noisy too. There weren’t many rooms to choose from. The bed was hard, as is common in hotels, and the pillows were too. The toilet basin was cracked, with glue in it that looked like something you’d find in the toilet. I should have booked the racecourse side, not the racetrack side.

Ed deserves a mention. He was on the front desk each Sunday night I stayed, and was courteous, observant, engaging, helpful and friendly. Staff like him are why I choose this hotel over a local competitor. The place is clean, tidy and comfortable enough for a night, and costs about what you’d pay for a three-course meal at most local restaurants. It’s not the most comfortable five-star hotel, but that’s not why I gave it five stars. There’s a nice foody pub next door, plus a 24-hour Waitrose petrol station, KFC and Burger King three minutes across the roundabout. Chichester centre is about ten minutes away, and the main commuter roads are just 200 metres from the car park. Reviewed by Karl.

The nearby pub was really nice, and the staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. We stayed two nights while visiting Arundel before heading on to Brighton, and it was just right for what we needed.

There isn’t a lot nearby, though there’s a pub with nice meals, plus KFC and a Burger King. Things to do aren’t too far away.
