The soft pizza base was the one letdown at dinner. The starter and dessert were excellent, though, and there are plenty of other places to eat nearby. The breakfast menu had a good range of options, and the bar has live music on Saturdays. We had a spacious room with a comfortable bed and nostalgic character, in a quiet, beautiful area. A genuine-feeling hotel and good value for money.

The dishes were hot and steaming when they arrived, and remarkably affordable. I was impressed by the big handwritten menu in this historic village pub. It’s easy to see why this charming place won Four in a Bed. Everyone gets a friendly welcome, not just the regulars, and there’s good conversation too.

MORE THAN BLUE are a great five-piece band. Their set ranged across the 60's, 70's and 80's, with a good mix that didn’t feel like the usual covers show. They even played some of their own songs, which was a nice change.

For the wake we held yesterday, Alex and her team were superb. Everything was handled professionally, with crisp table linen, staff dressed in black, and prompt, caring service, especially for the older guests. The food was well prepared and served hot or cold as appropriate. I’ve lived in Market Bosworth for 28 years and have known Alex McDonald, the licence owner, for around 20. I thoroughly recommend The Dixie for its professionalism and personal warmth toward locals and visitors alike.

We really enjoyed our stay. The pub is so friendly, the accommodation is great, and the food is superb and good value. Breakfast keeps you going until dinner.
