The staff made us feel so welcome, and this is exactly the sort of restaurant I'd tell friends to try. The room has a warm, stylish feel, and every dish was beautifully presented and seasoned just right. Fresh, balanced flavours, clearly made with care. We loved it.

We spent £157 including service for a birthday meal, with a bottle of rosé and a shared sticky toffee pudding that was awesome. The starters, bread and olives and mackerel pâté, were great. We both ordered medium-rare sirloin: one came out perfect, the other closer to medium, but both were very well seasoned. It's tucked away with a cosy feel, just a short walk from the city centre. I'd definitely return.

Alan and Nicola gave us top-notch service, and the wine and cocktails were both really good. My husband and I came back for our little “Christmas before Christmas,” and the Chateaubriands were amazing. Thanks to you both, we hope to see you again soon!

The food deserves ten stars from me, especially the steaks and the huge portion of chips. My Côte De Boeuf was tender, juicy and melted in my mouth. Mine was medium well, while my Brother in Law's medium rare, and both were cooked perfectly. My Mother, Sister and Niece had poussin. We were five, four adults and a 14yr old child, and there was no kids menu. Chess was available as a nice distraction while we waited, and we almost finished our game before the food arrived. The service and price brought my rating down to four stars. I'm not used to steakhouses or steak pubs, and the steak options were spread across two menus, which confused me. Our Waitress didn't explain how ordering worked very well, so my Sister had to step in and clarify it. Maybe I was being a bit dense. As I remember it, the steak prices weren't listed on the menu, though I could be wrong. I was surprised by the cost since it's a pub, as some reviews point out, rather than a steakhouse. The food was excellent and more or less worth it in my opinion, but the bill was over £200 for four adults and a child, with one starter, no alcohol and no pudding. Each steak was £75. The décor was nice, with a relaxed bar-saloon feel. I'd visit again. Still, it was much better than the Vegan pub down the road. Vegan pub, who ever heard of such a thing! LOL
