Premier Inn Portsmouth Havant South

We’ve used this hotel for years because it’s handy for a short break after seeing our grandchildren and visiting Hayling Island. The staff remain friendly, and the rooms are clean and tidy, but Whitbread seems intent on taking away what made Premier Inn customer friendly. On our last visit, parking charges appeared out of the blue at this isolated hotel, adding another cost to the stay. The sign in process has also been automated in a strange way that still requires staff to be present. The restaurant’s new menu mostly suits people who like lots of cheese and sticky sauces, and many dishes were out of stock. The food was just okay. It’s sad, but we’ll look elsewhere next time and pay closer attention to the other locations when we’re travelling.

On the third day, a fire alarm went off because of a fire in the Costa below. The hotel staff kept us informed, and once they knew we couldn’t return, they arranged alternative accommodation at nearby Premier Inns. The next day they updated everyone, and most of us could pack our own things to move over. I’m extremely grateful for how they looked after my daughter and me, as we both suffer from anxiety. Their care and dedication were second to none. Kelly, the manager, and all the staff were amazing. I highly recommend this centrally located Premier Inn. The rooms are clean, with great facilities, and our stay was excellent, though cut short through no fault of the hotel.

I stayed for six days, and all the staff are a credit to Premier Inn. A big thank you to Kerri and Tony for going above and beyond, and to Gloria for helping us out too. I really appreciated it. I’d happily stay here again next year and highly recommend this hotel.

A comfortable mattress and easy check in made for a pretty good stay. The staff were friendly, especially the woman at breakfast. We did hear quite a lot of footsteps from above, probably from a particularly noisy family, so be aware that sound carries.
