The roast was amazing, and Lucy, who served us for most of the meal, was a star. My partner and I had never been to The Pembroke Arms before Sunday 15th February, but the rain only made this very popular place feel cosier and more charming. Traffic made us 15 minutes late for our booking, yet the lovely woman behind the bar found us a table right away. It felt like the whole team looked after us, and everyone was so friendly and kind. I left wishing I worked there! Thanks so much, I’ve been singing your praises and telling everyone where to get a flippin’ fabulous roast dinner.

The place had a modern feel while still being cosy and comfortable, and the staff were polite and courteous without seeming rushed or stressed. They managed to find us a table even though we hadn’t booked. The food was fantastic and the chef was excellent. It was pricey, but well worth it. Thanks for a great Valentines Day evening. We’ll have dinner here again.

Breakfast was cooked to order, with well held poached eggs, crisp bacon, Lincolnshire sausage, black pudding, roasted tomato and field mushroom. There was strong coffee, plus pastries, fruit and yoghurt to help yourself to. The room was quiet and comfortable, with a carved wooden bed, a good mattress, spot on linens, heavy curtains, warm lamps, a desk, chair and coat hooks. The bathroom was clean, with a strong shower and quality toiletries. The inn has plenty of character. It’s an old coaching inn opposite Wilton House, with easy parking, low ceilings, wood panelling and an open fire that left a faint woodsmoke smell. The bar was busy with locals, and easy to settle into. We ate there too, having sourdough pizza from the wood-fired kitchen in the rear garden. No. 3 came with pepper pork, potato, blue cheese and walnut, and I added anchovies with chilli ham mayo on the side. The crust was blistered, the rim airy, and the whole thing full of flavour. Excellent. Had a pint alongside, with a steady crowd at the bar and in the restaurant. Service was warm and efficient throughout. It’s an interesting historic building with comfortable rooms, a friendly bar and a confident kitchen using local produce. Well worth another visit.

The venison main was absolutely delicious, and my wife really enjoyed her Schnitzel. We recently had a lovely birthday meal here, with a surprise main course from the staff and a birthday dessert as well. Service was spot on and the staff were just lovely. Highly recommend. If we’re in the area again, we’ll definitely visit The Pembroke Arms.

The food is very tasty, and the pizzas are excellent. The staff are attentive and engaging, and on arrival we were given delicious cookies and fresh milk for making a favourite drink, including fresh ground coffee. The room has been tastefully renovated in keeping with the age of the building, which has plenty of old world charm. I’d highly recommend staying here if you’re in the area.
