Caledonian New Southlands Hotel

I'd seen a review on booking .com from a Michael saying the rooms weren't clean and the food wasn't fit for a dog. We found the rooms clean, the food very good and plentiful, and the staff amazing. Total value for money.

We had a lovely four-night stay. The staff were polite and friendly, and service was great. There was a good choice of food, served quickly with a smile. The entertainment was great too, Mark does a brilliant job. Rooms have everything you need, including a hairdryer, soap, and shower or hair gel.

The hotel is up on the cliff near the Spa, so it might not suit you if you have mobility issues. It's about five minutes to the Cliff Lift down to the Spa and around 15 minutes to town. We were there on a Caledonian holiday in a superior room. On arrival there were tea and coffee, hot chocolate sachets, biscuits, and two bottles of water. The chocolate, biscuits, and water weren't replenished on later days. The room had a settee, coffee table, separate walk-in shower, and plenty of storage. Breakfast was buffet style, with plenty of choice and items replenished as needed. The first morning was chaos because everyone came down at once, but it was fine after that. We also had three-course evening meals, ordered at breakfast for that evening. The food was generally OK, hot, and plentiful.

The hotel was warm, very clean, and tidy. The room was cleaned and the beds made every day. Staff were really friendly and helpful, and the bar prices weren't too bad for a hotel.
