The room looked like it had fresh bedding, but there were hairs on it. I also found grime in the shower and on its dial, plus a pube and someone else's hair. The bed base was stained, and I didn't dare check the mattress. The bedside units were chipped and flaking. The radiators went off around 10pm, and the room got freezing fast. There was no heater or spare blanket, so I was awake most of the night and had to sleep in a hat. Quite possibly the worst night's sleep I've had in ages. The advertised double was actually a 3/4 bed. I wouldn't stay here again even if someone paid me.

Gosforth is a quiet place to stay, and the room was tidy. It suits people who drive, since public transport is scarce and taxis are expensive.

No parking, and the bed wasn't very comfortable. The room itself was basic.

There was no parking, and we were told no staff would be around for the weekend. Keys were left in the doors, and the outside door stayed open all night with no security. On Saturday, people from the pub opposite were using the toilets. The bathroom was dirty, and neither of its two lights worked, making it dangerous to shower or use the toilet at night. The bathroom door did close, but its edging was coming away. Curtains were hanging off the rail. The bed had a small double base with a double mattress, which made no sense, and the heating stayed on all night when it wasn't cold. For a long weekend, we got two teabags and six coffees but four milks. The local shop was out of action, so we had to travel to buy tea and milk. And staff? What staff? I'd suggest looking up The Red Admiral Hotel a few minutes up the road. It was brilliant. Owner of the pub or hotel, if you're not interested in running the place, let someone else try to make it work for the good of the community.

The room was a bit dated, but at this price we weren't surprised. We enjoyed our stay: it was clean, the bed was comfy, and the shower had good pressure. The price per night was cheap too. The woman who checked us in and served drinks was really nice. When she heard we had our fully grown German Shepherd with us, she looked for the biggest room available for us, then realised we were already in it, room 5. That was kind of her. Parking is free, either a 30-second walk away or in one of the two spaces outside the hotel.
