Grassington Lodge

Some hotels can manage a contactless setup because they have clear check-in processes, can deal with problems remotely, and keep basics like heating, bedding, safety, and TVs under control. This one has cut costs so far that I don't trust it to run that way. If you book here, go in knowing you won't trust the system, and that you may only be choosing it because it's the only option in your budget. Set your expectations accordingly. I stayed and trusted them once. I wouldn't do that again.

The lodge is in a great spot for Grassington village and the walks nearby. Room 6 was small but worked well enough for our two-day stay. It was warm and clean when we arrived, and the fridge was a nice extra. The tea tray had a decent supply of complimentary tea and coffee. The separate bathroom was inconvenient in the evening with our weak bladders. Also, the room wasn't cleaned during our stay. The used tea cups were left as they were, the beds weren't made, and the bathroom hadn't been touched.

This was by far the worst place I've stayed after visiting many places around the world. The customer service was terrible, and I strongly advise against booking it. To me, the older positive reviews seem to be from when it had different owners. They kept blaming Booking.com for the misleading photos and description, but the listing is ultimately the hotel's responsibility. What's advertised as a lodge is really an overpriced hostel. The room was completely unacceptable and nothing like the listing, yet they kept my money and refused a refund despite my trying every route I could to sort it out. Avoid.

A solid choice, with a clean, modern room and Wi-Fi. There's no breakfast, but the price is a bit lower too.
