The Braemar

I slept even better than at home. The bed was warm and really comfortable, and the shower was lovely and hot. The towels were huge and fluffy, and the room had everything, including a fridge tucked away out of sight with fresh milk, not UHT. The owner was friendly and accommodating, and cooked a fantastic breakfast. Top notch, I’d definitely recommend it!

We had a fabulous weekend at The Braemar. Michael was a great host and did everything he could to make the stay comfortable, relaxed, and enjoyable. I’d gladly stay there again.

I was staying by myself, and the warm welcome made me feel at ease straight away. The location is incredibly convenient, with everything close by, and my room was lovely. I slept really well both nights in the very comfortable bed. There were thoughtful extras that made the place stand out, including a good hairdryer, a welcome pack, and plenty of towels. I had everything I needed, and breakfast was beautifully prepared to a high standard. It felt like very good value, and I’d highly recommend a visit. This was my first stay, but I’ll be back. Thanks for a lovely time.

The owners were friendly, courteous, and helpful when my friend and I arrived for the Southport Flower Show. The bed was very comfortable, everywhere was sparkling clean, and breakfast was excellent. But I found the place unsuitable for someone with a disability. I told Michael when booking, though I’m not sure he took that fully on board. There’s only one ground-floor room, and it was already taken. After a full flight of stairs, there were another six steps to my room, without a handrail or other support. Climbing them was almost impossible, and going down was even more frightening. The bedroom was barely bigger than a cupboard, with no space for a bedside table. I had to leave my phone and water on the floor or risk falling out of bed to reach the dressing table. That was painful and dangerous. A shelf would help. The toilet seat slid off its rear fittings. Michael said it was loose rather than broken and said he’d fix it, but it was still the same the next day. The shower cubicle wasn’t wide enough for its folding door to close properly, leaving the shower space compromised and dangerous for me. Disability adjustments are required by law. There was just one grab rail on the two steps down to the breakfast room, which wasn’t enough. Such a shame.
