The Elizabethan property has a great art collection, glorious gardens and quite a story to tell. For those wanting a taste of English countryside, Sedgefield offers typical Yorkshire town life with cosy pubs and a village green. To the north, historic Durham is only 11 miles, while Teesside Airport is 10 miles to the south. This hotel has upgraded rooms that feature a comfy king size bed with four plump pillows and a cosy duvet. The bathroom was clean, though it could use some maintenance. Apart from that, the room was clean, the bed comfortable, and there was plenty of tea and coffee. The staff at this Travelodge were very polite and helpful, a real credit to the company.

A good choice for a short, cosy stay. The double room was a decent size compared with other Travelodge rooms, and the bed was comfortable. Parking was good, with a restaurant and a gas station shop nearby.

We had a lovely, comfortable couple of days with friends. The beds were really comfy, and it was warm and cosy. Nothing was too much trouble. Sharon gave us such a lovely, warm welcome and was chatty and friendly. Thanks, Sharon, we’ll be back soon.

Very good prices, clean and quiet rooms, and excellent staff. The key entry feels old fashioned compared with a card, but I can’t fault the place.

The room was clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed, and the receptionists were friendly and polite. It felt a little tired and sparse, though, and could do with some care and updating. We also missed the to-go breakfasts we’d ordered with the room because they hadn’t arrived or weren’t available in time. Luckily, Sedgefield is close by, so we weren’t left without breakfast. Above par overall, and it did the job.
