OYO Tamworth Arms Boutique Pub & Hotel

The room absolutely stank of raw sewage. I reported it, but was told there were no other rooms. They said I could have a full refund because of the smell, so I had to leave with nowhere else to go. The manager agreed it was bad upstairs and promised the money back within five days. They called once and confirmed it, and there are apparently voice recordings, but now they’ve gone back on it and say the hotel refused the refund. It’s been over two weeks. I feel OYO, the company handling bookings, are complete frauds, and I’m going to involve the police because this could be fraud at a higher level. The manager seemed nice and legitimate, but they double-crossed me. If you read reviews, pay me back ASAP. It’s the principle of the matter. Breakfast was really good, and the morning staff were extremely helpful and attentive, checking that everything was okay with our food. Dinner was disappointing: we both ordered salmon and prawn linguine, but the pasta tasted unseasoned. I didn’t eat mine, and my wife managed about half because she was so hungry. I mentioned it to the waiter, but got no response. When we were shown our first room, it was cold, with no central heating. There was an oil-filled radiator, which we moved into the bathroom, and another heater that looked like a storage heater. It took ages to warm up and blew cold air while we waited. We went to the restaurant, but the door wouldn’t lock and I couldn’t get the safe working, so I asked for a different room. They showed us a larger family room, which was fine, but then we had to start warming it from scratch. It wasn’t very warm outside either.

A superb choice for work trips to Tamworth, with great rooms, parking, excellent food, and superb service. The menu has a west side with regular pub grub and an east side with fantastic Indian food. I’d go for the Indian menu, especially the amazing mixed grill.

After a long day on a few different trains, the food was especially good. The welcome was warm and the service was great. My room was clean and warm too. I’ll stay here again next time I’m in the area.
