I've stayed in several different rooms here, and they've all been pleasing. The car park is on site and secure, which matters to me. The hotel is in a lovely old building from the 1800s, renovated with real care and style. The food is exceptional, the staff are lovely, and it's an excellent hotel. A really lovely stay.

I've been booking work meetings at The Peel for a few years, and the staff are always accommodating. This time I stayed overnight and had a charming four poster bed. The room was comfortable and clean, with all mod cons. It's a family run business that I love. Everyone is lovely, and both the accommodation and food are exceptional.

We'd have given five stars if breakfast hadn't taken so long, though they were very busy with returning customers who clearly love their breakfasts. The staff were lovely and made us feel at home, even with Charlie pup, who can be a bit of a barker. He got a sausage and some treats and polished them off in minutes. The room was really clean and had everything we needed, including wall air con, big fluffy bath towels and very comfortable beds. The chocolate chip biscuits with Yorkshire tea were a welcome touch. We all slept really well, Charlie included, then had a great breakfast: lovely pancakes and bacon toast, and a full English. Thanks, folks. We'll definitely return.

The room was clean, but small and cramped, with little in the way of comforts and a grand view of the rear car park. Maybe it was just our room, but on a hot August night the bed was unbearably hard and uncomfortable, and came with a million tog duvet fit for an Antarctic expedition. The air conditioning looked like a rusting relic on the wall, replaced by a cheap plug in fan. There was only one socket, so we had to choose between the fan and bedside light. We left dog tired and glad to be heading home to our own bed. For a road trip, comfort and food are the two things you need, and The Peel Aldergate provided neither. A staffing crisis meant the only option for dinner was eating in town. Tamworth isn't exactly thriving and vibrant, so do the best you can. The local tandoori was close to the hotel and not half bad. Breakfast was a perfunctory 'breakfast sandwich' with sausage or bacon. My bacon sandwich had two rashers, and I had to cut it myself. I expected better. My wife made the wiser choice with eggs benedict, which was much better, well cooked and nicely presented. Thanks for that.

We arrived after the desk had closed, but all the information sent over WhatsApp worked seamlessly. The room was charming in a nicely converted building, spacious, and had a well appointed ensuite.
