The bed was roomy and very comfortable, the room was clean, and the staff were pleasant throughout. Breakfast had lots of choice and was a great start to the day. I was stopping overnight to break up the drive home from Cornwall to the Midlands, and it worked well for that. I did have one minor mix-up: I hadn't noticed there was both a standard Holiday Inn and a Holiday Inn Express on the same business park, so I went to the wrong one first. The receptionist couldn't find my booking, and I only realised then. They were a minute apart, but it was annoying after I'd unloaded all my things from the car following a long drive. My mistake for not checking. A small thing, but there were only three little sugar sachets with the in-room tea and coffee, and I ran out quickly. It was a practical, comfortable stay, and I'd choose it again for the same trip.

The place is spacious and the toilets were very clean, but the hot chocolate we had was basically brown water. I also got a frosty greeting from a female staff member, which doesn't make me want to come back. It was a big contrast with the Holiday Inn around the corner, where they greet you with a smile and are helpful.

The room was spacious and very clean, though the towels were threadbare. Service was friendly, with limited interaction as you'd expect from the hotel's style. The cooked breakfast was dire: cheap sausages that left a powdery feeling in my mouth, and scrambled eggs that seemed premade. The bacon and croissants were nice, though.

I've been here three days and can't stop sneezing, with my nose streaming. My work colleagues are feeling the same way. Every time we stay at Holiday Inns, we seem to leave with a virus. I've kept telling my company to stop putting us in these places. It can't be coincidence when we all feel unwell while staying here, and it happens almost every time.

The rooms were poor, and some reception staff were miserable, rude, and had awful attitudes. To be fair, the other staff were absolutely fine. The dining option is the Harvester next door, which seemed to be run by kids. It's fine if you want deep-fried or microwaved food, but you'd be better off ordering a takeaway.
