The Beckford Inn

The staff were friendly and helpful, and both dinner and breakfast were excellent. The menus clearly had some thought put into them. My wife and I stayed one night, and our room was spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. We’ll be back, highly recommended.

The Cotswold suite was ideal for our family birthday party, with outdoor seating and a field spacious enough for the big games we had planned. It’s separate from the main building, and our guests were greeted by Izzy with a glass of fizz. We’d asked for the small buffet to be fully gluten free, and that was handled easily. The food looked great and was far better than we expected. Matt and Izzy were on hand throughout and made organising the evening easy, while Brad’s guidance and help were invaluable. We were also given access early in the afternoon so we could decorate and make the suite feel like our own. I’d been looking for a special outdoor venue for my Wife, daughter, and Son, whose birthdays are close together. From my first enquiry with Matt in Dec 25 and the emails with Izzy afterward, communication and service were excellent. The whole team was a joy to work with, and I’d have no hesitation using the Beckford again.

We’re new to the area and booked online for a Sunday afternoon meal at the Beckford Inn. We arrived a little early and waited just a few minutes for our table. The food itself was good, and we both enjoyed our pudding, but the portions and extras felt disappointing for the price. We’d ordered two large fish and chips, then were told only one large and one small fish were available. Fair enough, but my wife’s small fish was more like a child’s portion. The peas, curry sauce, and tartare sauce came in pots about the size of shot glasses. I paid when asked to check the receipt and assumed it was right. Only after getting home did I notice the service charge. I don’t think it should be added automatically without making it clear, though perhaps it was mentioned somewhere on the menu. We were left feeling rather hard done by, with the prices, small portions, and extra charge. We want to support local businesses, but this was below what we’d consider normal expectations.

The beds were so comfortable, and the shower had the best water pressure I’ve ever had. We were impressed with the delicious breakfast too. It was a lovely, quiet night with no noise at all, and the dog had grassy spots for toilet breaks, which was really helpful. The room had thoughtful details when we arrived, gentle music playing on the radio and treats in a dog bowl. Amazing dog-friendly stay, and the location worked perfectly for us.
